Discipline Is The Key To Investing Success

Aloha Investors!

I hope everyone is keeping to their investment goals and enjoying life. I was really hoping that Apple wasn’t going to do something big for their earnings until I was able to buy today, but they ended up raising dividends and doing a hefty $110 billion stock buyback. It will be interesting if Warren Buffett talks about Apple this weekend at Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting. It will be his first annual meeting without his long time friend and partner Charlie Munger. I am hoping that he praises Apple about the dividend increase and buyback because he does believe it is beneficial to all shareholders. I believe Berkshire also bought back about $2.3 billion in stock this year. I am looking forward to watching the annual meeting if I am able to view it on YouTube.

This pay period I was able to purchase 2 shares of Apple. I was really hoping to purchase 3 shares, but it seems I was a bit short. I like to keep my scheduled buy days because I don’t like to time the market. I will just purchase the stock if I believe the stock is a long term investment stock. I was also happy to purchase one share of Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO). This ETF is a pricey stock, but the stock follows the S&P quite well. There is no change in my Traditional IRA since dividend payouts for Apple aren’t until the middle of May.

Just remember to create investment goals and stick with it. Discipline is key to investing and having the right mindset to live below your means. It is not how much you make, but how much you save and invest.
